The record

The finder's output: your startup, in your own words. One page, with the thing in a sentence, the first user, what exists, the smallest thing you will ship and when, the five people and the take-away date, the money, the route with the rule that picked it, what you are not doing, and your focus line. The next record supersedes it and says what changed.

*Finder record. Date: <date>. Interviewer: <Claude, ChatGPT, the page at startups.sgit.ai/finder/interview.html, or a person>.
Finder version <finder.json version>. Status: a first record; the next one supersedes it and says what changed.*

## Where I am

<The entry: one of the five, in the person's words.>

## The thing, in one sentence

<Who uses it, to do what.>

## The first user, and what they do on day one

<One person, named or by role, and the first thing they do.>

## What exists today

<Nothing, a demo, a prototype, or something a stranger can use. The honest state.>

## The smallest thing I will ship, and when

<The smallest version a stranger could use, and the date it is in their hands.>

## The five people

<By name or role. How I give it to them. When and how I take it away. What missing it looks like.>

## The money

<What they would pay, in what shape, and whether I need outside money to reach the first paying user.>

## The route

<The route's title, the rule that fired and why, in the finder's words. If I disagree, what I would change.>

## What I am not doing, for now

- <one line each, dated where it matters>

## My focus, in my own words

<The sentence I would say to a friend who asked what I am working on.>

finder-record.md as a file. The interview page writes the same shape from your answers; the prompt tells a model to fill it.

Examples

None published yet. The first will be Dinis’s own, as the memo says: "maybe I’ll show some examples, I’ll do it myself". It is the interviewer’s first issue. A record is published only with its owner’s say-so, under admin/content/finder/examples/, and says whose it is and how it was run.

Keeping yours

A record is yours. The page keeps your answers in your browser and nowhere else; a model keeps them in the conversation. Save the markdown as a file, and start the next interview from it: the point of the record is that it can be checked later against what you did.
